Ashok B. Lall Architects

Ashok B. Lall Architects is committed to sustainable practice since it was founded in 1980 in the field of the built environment.  We have been involved in the preparation of redevelopment proposals for Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Roshnara Bagh in Delhi.
We also prepared a redevelopment plan for “Khirki” village as consultants to the Delhi Urban Arts Commission on behalf of TVB School of Habitat Studies. The plan was adopted in principle by the Delhi Development Authority and Municipal Corporation of Delhi. We have in the process also dealt with the local authorities in the area and built a rapport with the locals.
Within the specific discipline of transport infrastructure design and planning we have been involved in the design of transport infrastructure for the city of Delhi as a consultant to Delhi Integrated Multi-modal Transit Systems. Our scope included the design and technical specifications for subways and foot over bridges at a number of busy intersections in the city. In order to provide an accurate design for implementation, all sites were surveyed before proposing the design. This gives us an edge in managing and delivering public realm and pedestrian infrastructure projects.
We will be the principal facilitators and designers in this project involving consultants with technical expertise in specific areas of detailed transit survey and design.

The Non Motorized (NMT) transit and pedestrianization technical consultants are;

Sandeep Gandhi Architects ( SGA); for detailed design and implementation support of transport facilities. Mr. Gandhi has over ten years experience for working in the field of NMT infrastructure planning and design. He has been associated with TRIPP, IIT Delhi, for many research projects concerning transportation safety, public transport and NMT. This included the Bicycle Master Plan for Delhi and traffic calming on highways passing through towns and villages.
He has developed the designs for many BRTS corridors in India, including Delhi, Indore, Rajkot and Pune. He has designed and implemented India’s first fully functional dedicated bicycle tracks, and the first of its kindly completely barrier free pedestrian infrastructure along the BRTS corridor in Delhi.

Innovative Transport Solutions ( iTRANS),  is an Urban Transport consultancy. An incubation unit in the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) from 2008 to 2012, working on Sustainable Urban Transport issues ranging from Urban Transport Policies at the National and State Level, Transport Planning and Modelling at city level, Non-Motorised Transport Planning, Advocacy and Promotion, Public Transport Planning and operations with special focus on Bus Rapid Transit Systems (BRTS), Area level traffic circulation plans and Microscopic Simulation studies.
Itrans will be involved in the specific task of Preparing questionnaires, training survey staff in traffic and walkability survey of the study area. In addition to this they would also generate trip models and build scenarios and provide a Mobility and Walkability analyses based on the results of survey.

Oasis Design Inc. based out of New-Delhi, India – is a architectural and landscape design practice that has chosen to respond to the global climate change mitigation challenges by adopting sustainable design practices in the local urban context.
As part of its commitment to improving the ‘quality of life’ in our cities, ODI has been consistently involved in designing various urban plazas, public spaces, streetscapes and other urban regeneration projects, most notable among which include a comprehensive landscape development plan for the South Delhi Greenway – a non-motorized transport corridor conceived and proposed by ODI along the 12.5 km long Barapullah drain. This Open-space Masterplan project aims at cleaning up the dirty drain and transforming the same into a landscaped eco-corridor connecting all different fragmented greens into a continuous whole, which in turn would also connect to the major public transit hubs in the vicinity.
ODI has been involved in this project to take advantage of their specific expertise in landscape and other surface treatment relevant to pedestrian mobility.

  1. Hello Aakosadak team,

Congrats for the initiative but would like to know if this project is only about the peripheral roads in and around Malviya Nagar or you would take care of the roads inside the colonies, like the roads and lanes in Khirki Ext and Gupta Colony.

    Thanks & regards

    • Dear Paromita,

Thank you for taking an interest in the initiative! We are currently looking to improve the road connecting Gol Chakkar (Malviya Nagar), Krishna Mandir, Apeejay School junction, Triveni Complex, to Chirag Dilli nala. This is going to be our test case for improvement. The proposals for the improvements have been made and we are in consultation with various government agencies at the moment.

We will update the website in case of any new developments.

Thank you very much for your support!!

      Best Regards,

      Manas Murthy
      Project Coordinator
